Outdoor First Aid

Why Outdoor First aid?

The outdoor environment carries its own set of dangers and situational variables that make a standard first aid knowledge just not enough. As with any outdoor activity, preparation is key. Having the right equipment and knowledge is essential. Our Outdoor first aid courses have helped our clients feel more confident operating in these harsh environments.

Summit Training runs Outdoor First Aid Courses, regulated by ITCFirst, for a wide range of groups. From Mountain Leaders, Kayak Instructors to Forest Schools teachers. All of our first aid qualifications are nationally recognised and valid for 3 years.

In house training and open courses

We run in-house Outdoor first aid training for groups and providers across the UK. We can deliver 8 hour and 16 hour outdoor first aid courses at your venue if you have a minimum of 3 members of staff who require training. Contact us about in-house training. Our trainers are mobile and are able to come to you.

Open courses across the UK

Summit Training run regular Outdoor First Aid open courses in Hertfordshire, Northampton and Northern Ireland for individuals to attend. If you require training in any of these locations, get in touch.

ITC Level 3 in Outdoor First Aid – Incident Management

Outdoor environments can be harsh and unforgiving at any time of the year. The lack of easy access due to the environment as well as the isolated nature of the activity will usually mean a causality will need care and monitoring while help is mustered.

Forest School First Aid

This course is designed to meet the needs of those working away from immediate assistance in the remote and wilderness regions of the UK and beyond. It is taught by trainers who are fully at home in the outdoors and understand the issues, dilemmas and judgments required when dealing with incidents in potentially hostile, remote environments.

We choose to deliver the ITC Certificate in Outdoor First Aid as its unit structure allows us to also provide an Emergency First Aid at Work certificate for attendees that require it.

This course needs to be at least 16 hours in duration. Full details of course timings are on the booking page. This will also be emailed to candidates in the pre-course information pack once your booking is confirmed.

ITC Advanced Outdoor First Aid

If you are an outdoor instructor or practitioner with plenty of Outdoor first aid courses under your belt you may be looking for something a little bit different? Perhaps more advanced? This may be the course for you.

The Advanced Outdoor First Aid course is an intensive look at managing incidents. It is for those where rescue is unlikely or may be unachievable for many hours.  This course is designed with the experienced first aider who wants a greater knowledge, understanding and skill set to manage all incidents in an isolated outdoor setting.

This course requires at least 18 hours of intense contact time and includes several practical elements designed to build upon existing knowledge of Outdoor First aid. Participants are required to have a 16 hour outdoor first aid qualification prior to attending this course.

Full details of course timings are on the booking page and will also be emailed to candidates in the pre-course information pack once your booking is confirmed.
